There is something incredibly satisfying about completing a project. And the longer it takes to complete….well the more satisfaction I get. I started making this crocheted blanket YEARS ago (2018) but could not get it done by the time Spring rolled around. It was big and as I worked on it, not only was it heavy, but it was warm….great for a winter project. Not so great for warmer seasons. As I rolled out the blanket to measure how much fabric I would need to line it, I saw how imperfect it was. It flared on the more recent end, and almost gives the silhouette of a mermaid! LOL!! Even as a complete novice, it was definitely not what I intended but I loved it all the same. The bright blue floral fabric accentuates the uneven soft creamy border. I chose to do the blanket stitch the blue fabric onto the crocheted blanket. Giant safety pins kept it in place so I could complete this part in multiple sessions without having to realign them repeatedly. The duplo safety pins were magic!! Crocheting is rhythmic and I would easily find my mind wandering to the next day’s tasks, what to cook, and giving thanks for my ability to use my hands, praying for family and friends, and shooing the cat away from stalking my line of yarn. I would love to make some baby blankets…Isabel and I now have the opportunity with the two cuties born last month.
